YAG etalons (or yagalons)

Solid YAG etalons are handy because of the high index of YAG material (about 1.8 depending on wavelength). This creates a reasonably high finesse without any coating; this makes "yagalons" excellent for mode selection in high power solid state lasers. The additional advantage of YAG is excellent transmission in a wide range of wavelengths.

  • Material: Undoped YAG
  • Wavelength range: 250nm to 4um
  • Wedge: Less than 1 arc second typical
  • Clear aperture: 85% of outside dimension
  • Surface quality: 10/5 or better
  • Matched surface figure: λ/50 RMS typical
  • Diameter: 5.0mm or 1/2"
  • Finesse and FSR vary with wavelength, Finesse ~1, FSR on the PDF drawings is based on an index of 1.82
