Laser Assembly Technician

This is a permanent full-time position at our Nepean Ontario facility.  
Working from assembly drawings, circuit diagrams and written procedures, you will assemble mechanical and electrical components to very tight tolerances and mount these assemblies into laser frames.  This includes the use of various tools including calibrated torque drivers and crimping tools.

Since there are a large number of different assemblies, the work is varied and you are unlikely to get bored.  

Requirements
Experience in an electrical assembly role
Excellent knowledge of correct crimping and soldering procedures
The physical ability to lift heavy components and assemblies 
Completion of a manufacturing technician program at the college level, or equivalent experience.
Strong English language skills (spoken and written)
Excellent attitude, sense of humour, and personality.  We have to work with you - so this is key.
A genuine interest in this kind of work.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
Must be organized and prepared to support the company’s ISO certification by following procedures, and completing checklists and reports.

Nice to haves
Experience with wire harness assembly
Rudimentary knowledge of electric circuits


Optical Technician

Description

This is a permanent full-time position at our Nepean Ontario facility.  

This job offers a lot of variety.  On a day-to-day basis, your duties will range from testing optics, to aligning spectrometers, to running thin film coating and fluid jet polishing machines.  You will play an important role in the fabrication of everything from simple optics for use in R&D to complex space-bound instruments. 

The ideal candidate for this position will be extremely detail-oriented.  Following procedures carefully is very important.  In some cases, a new procedure will have to be developed and documented so others can follow it.  

Once you are fully trained, evening and weekend shifts may be required.

Requirements

  • Completion of a science program at a college or university level (a physics or photonics program would be ideal).
  • Strong English language skills (spoken and written)
  • Excellent attitude, sense of humour, and personality.  We have to work with you - so this is key.
  • A genuine interest in this kind of work.

Laser Vessel Technician

Description

This is a permanent full-time position at our Nepean Ontario facility.  

Working from drawings and written procedures, you will assemble mechanical components to very tight tolerances.  This includes the use of various tools including calibrated torque drivers and wrenches.

You will also disassemble components and carefully note details for later analysis.  

With training, you will eventually learn to mount the vessels into lasers and perform a series of tests to ensure they meet their performance specifications.

Junior Optician

Description

This is an entry-level permanent full-time position at our Nepean Ontario facility.  

In many ways, optical fabrication is like machining.  Working from engineering designs, you will learn to shape, grind, and polish raw glass and crystal to extremely tight tolerances.  You will use a variety of test equipment to gauge your progress and verify finished work.

You will work closely with our team of senior opticians, machinists, engineers, and scientists to ensure projects are completed to the customer’s specifications in a timely manner.

Since we make custom optics, the work tends to be quite varied, so you will have a chance to do a range of tasks on a day to day basis.  

Requirements

  • Some experience with machining
  • Completion of a manufacturing technician program at the college level.
  • Solid applied math skills.
  • Strong English language skills (spoken and written)
  • Excellent attitude, sense of humour, and personality.  We have to work with you - so this is key.
  • A genuine interest in this kind of work.
