You will work closely with our team of senior opticians, machinists, engineers, and scientists to ensure projects are completed to the customer’s specifications in a timely manner.

Since we make custom optics, the work tends to be quite varied, so you will have a chance to do a range of tasks on a day to day basis.

LightMachinery operates a number of advanced thin-film coating chambers.  The coating process is a critical step in producing tightly toleranced optical components.    Coating technicians at LightMachinery must clean optics using a very specific technique (we'll teach you), load the components carefully in the machines, and execute the coating program.  With time, you will learn to design coatings and to maintain and troubleshoot the equipment.  Eventually - you can expect to deal directly with customers to help them specify their requirements.

  • University science degree or a college diploma with sufficient math skills
  • Strong English language skills (written and spoken)
  • An excellent attitude and sense of humour.  We have to work with you - so this is very important.
